Instead of using my MAF for IAT readings. I am adding a seperate IAT sensor (the vette sensor) so it can read the temperature drop from the Meth/ water injection without having it blow through the MAF to avoid damaging the MAF sensor.

Not sure on your setup but I have the meth after the MAF about 12 inches from the TB.

If you don't have an IAT sensor in between your Meth kit and your TB then your computer is not reading the cooler IAT.

There are two main uses for the Meth/water injection

        1) simulates race gas= raises octane of fuel mixture.

        2) lowers IAT

You can tune the car to run as if it were just racing gas but I am using it mainly to lower my IAT's. I am not messing with timing at all, just wanting to lower temperatures.

I have an inter cooler so just using it for octane. Did not add any timing just using it for safety.

Just so you know running a seperate IAT sensor only cost me $40. It would be a easy add on to your system that would net you a little more performance. It still would be safe.

I'm guessing your IAT on a WOT pull still are reading upwards of 150 degrees. But with the Meth being shot in these temps are actually a lot lower. So your cars timing will be skewed.

            Have you logged your temps?

I have and don't remember off the top of my head. I will have to look at some of the logs and see what they say.

I'd be curious on what your pulling. Have you been to the track yet?

I usually notice that if I'm driving around for a little and get to normal operating temp and oil all warmed up and do a quick 2nd or 3rd gear pull I can reach 170-180, now I don't have have an intercooler but they are usually good for about 20 degrees of cooling due to how fast the air is passing through it doesn't cool that much. I'm guessing you are around 150-160 if you do a full 3rd gear pull at operating temp.

With an intercooler your true temps are probably around 100-110 with the Meth but because its behind your MAF and there is no IAT to read it you are losing performance and having some timing pulled.

Let us know what temps you are seeing, I'm curious

Here's a shot of my install. Now not only will I have higher octane fuel, but my car will be able to read the IAT drop.

Looked at my logs and on the dyno at the top of 4th it was hitting 161. Shop temp was about 87.

That's what I was thinking. Throw an IAT in between the throttle body and the Meth kit and it will drop those temps a good 40-50 degrees. Wont pull timing then.

Hey crime, it would be cool to get some videos of your car, my car, and esqezme's car. All threw turboed from chicagoland.

You get a change to do any logs on the street and see how much of a drop in temps you got?

Been stuck at worK. I will be doing this tonight to fine tune for the track tomorrow. Ill let you know the results.

Did you retune at all for the meth?

the only adjustments i am making are decreasing fuel a little bit. I am using this mainly as a cooling agent, not for the octane boosting.

The reason for this is because in the case that the meth injection fails my car is not running a tune designed for higher octane, it is idealy still going to be the same tune i am running now, just shooting for IAT around 110-120 in 3rd and 4th gear instead of 180-200.

i do have to say that just driving to and form work i have seen a difference just by relocating the IAT sensor. it tends to read at most only 15-20 degrees above ambient to where with my MAF i would always sit over 100 degrees no matter what the temp was outside. Shows the the MAF housing does suffer from heat soak.
