I tell you what when I called them and there was a possibility of me returning a ZL-1 with 2000 miles on it I received some real help.

The service manager and their top tech got on the phone with me right away.
After a Quick explanation of what was happening.
the tech told me a couple of tricks that should help solve this problem.
One was how to turn all of the controls basically to manual and this is the only way to get all 585 Hp out of the car, but be carfull it will just smoke the tire off if you let it.

I plan on going to Blackhawk on Saturday to try it out on a road course.
Then head up to GLD for Sunday.

Can't wait to see it, oh I mean you there!

I would assume that the ZL1's stock programming is like the Camaro SS's, needs some time to cool down.

I'd cool down the car and watch coolant temps, and get a handle on the traction control settings. None of of cars run good ET with the TCS on, but you could leave Stabilitrak on.

There are several of us in this thread familiar with this type of setup that would be willing to ride along and/or take the wheel and see if we can find anything.

Though, I will say that your times aren't all that surprising based on what I've seen elsewhere, but I think you'll be able to better them.

Let's hear all the slip details. Does the ZL1 have a sport mode for the shifter?

              I didn't save the slips.
The sport mode is for the suspension i believe.

I have the manual ZL1 and that has Launch control. When I go to PTM 5 (race mode) and floor it, it goes to limit, drops, then stabilizes at a nannie-calculated RPM awaiting launch.

The automatic does not have launch control, so if you spin the tires with nannies disabled, they will spin until you hit the rev limiter or back off of the throttle.

You can either rev it while holding the brake or just floor it when the light turns green (well 3rd light turns yellow ).

I would love to know the details of what Chevy tech told you and how it turns out!

2 Tracks in one week end

Well I hit Blackhawk farms on Saturday and did the autocross school what a blast.
If you haven't done this yet you really need to try it once.
The zl1 was made for this stuff. I really had fun when I turned all of the computer controllers off and got it sideways on turn 5-6.
and 116 mph on the front straight.

Sunday morning we were at GLD by 9:00 sat in the pits with about 6 other folks until about 10:30 when they finally opened the lanes.BTW no rain yet.
I got 2 runs in and it started to sprinkle and they shut the lanes down.
We hung around about a half hour more and the rain got a little harder so we took off.

The first run I did in straight sport mode left all of the traction controllers on but did manual shifting with the paddles (it bogged just a little) and turned a 12.503 @112.90

The second run I turned the controllers off and did the shifting manually again, the tires started to smoke on the line so at 3000 rmp I shifted into second and it launched really good but I still lost the time but got more speed 12.613@113.27

Now I have a real dilemma on the few weekends I don't have to work do we go to the drag races or to the road courses ?

                          Tim

If you can afford the maintanace, brakes, and tires from road racing I would vote for that.

I on other hand can not so straightline is my focus.

T-Bone, the forum ninja, and I are doing RA in October i believe there are spots left if you are interested... PM me

But keep in mind you will need to buy track pads, rotors, flush your brake fluid, change your brake lines, get an alignment and change your diff fluid before you go... Oh yeah and have an SA2005 or newer helmet.
Racing is my life, everything else is just minor details.
