Randy is thee man, always a good conversation with the man and since Straightline has been using them they have had "0" issues between them. He just built a 416 for Camper from Camaro5 for lots of boost so I'm curious to see what it does this week on the dyno.

This happens in all the shops, there are many many more customers from Ls1tech and Chitown racing than you don't see those guys complaining about "Straightline" not SLP.
Little delay in responding, I need to visit this forum more.

Just stating my situation with their tune. Fact is that my car ran bad, shifted bad and got worse mileage after their tune. I didn't even know (or cared) who they used until I had problems. After it was re-tuned by FAST the car ran flawlessly. I have been taking my cars to LCPC for years (and previously HP Performance).

Just an update regarding tuning for 5th Gens.

We had a few Camaros come into the shop this past week, for tuning. All had some sort of non stock/custom tunes from other shops outside of Illinois.

None of the tunes were optimal and two of the three put the car in a dangerous zone.

One was programmed via a hand held programmer with no dyno verification.

Recommendation, have the performance and parameters of your car verified on a Dyno, by a competent shop.

What type of tuning deals would you offer C5G members? And how do you handle re-tunes if something was changed?

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

Oh I agree, these people that think JRE is Camaro5 gawd are silly for not throwing the car on a chassis dyno. Not all cars are the same and mail tuning is not always an answer.

BUT I may add there are guys like Matt@FSP that will take your data logs and fine tune it from there. It helps having HP tuners too lol.

what system do you guys have there at Nickey and how long have you guys been tuning?

Matt@FSP does great work for the Camaro's, I've worked with him in the past.

I can provide tuning for V6's just as Matt does, with data logging and dyno results before and after.

He's got it down packed and has assisted me in the past with learning about HPT.

Theres something about your screen name that's very familiar LOL.

Our Standard Tuning rates start @ $500.00 for a 5th generation Camaro Custom Tunes and can go up from there depending on Dyno time / road test time and other variables and complexities.

We use both EFI live and HP tuners software.

We also use the Auto Cal hand held programmers / data loggers for remote tunes as well as potential updates.

The experience here at NicKey is vast and broad. I was trained on a Sun Dynamometer back in the early 1980s long before we got to this stage.

Corey Clayton, formerly of Clayton Racing has been tuning for us for almost 4 years. He is our full time tuner and one of our Master Techs.

Retunes and verifications are billed at our shop rate of $100.00 per hour.

Call us up and tells us what you need and we'll provide you an estimate/ quote.

There is no one in Chicago Land who can or will provide a better tune for less $$$$$ and back up by our 30 plus years in business.

I have to say that I have been impressed with Ted's knowledge as well as the results of some of his quality builds. My opinion is that he is one of the goods ones, based on what I have seen.

I totally agree that many of the scenarios for emailed tunes are overstated and that while you can usually get close and sometimes spot on, that we always recommend running the car on the Dyno or with a Data logger.

For every one that is spot on we see many more which need additional tuning.

We have literally tuned hundreds of 5th Gen Camaros as well as LS based vehicles.

Another Shop and great tuner which we have direct experience with is FLP / Dan Bills. Dan helped us with much of the early tuning and R&D on the NicKey Stage I, II and III options. He also built the very first 5th gen twin turbo to actually drive on the streets without any issues.

Corey tuned mine and I am very happy with it.

                            T.
The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.
