      It's not like lowering coils that have rate and height integrated in to the cut. Those gold slotted cog looking rings at the bottom actually will lift/lower the whole mechanism itself within an outer housing that bolts to the lower mount point. It's this system that actually allows you to have the adjustable height with a static spring rate. The overall rate of the system is then controlled by the valving. That's what gives the coilovers the benefit (and cost) over just springs.. You're not stuck with less coil for height and hard rides all the time..
