  • Coilovers: BC Racing VS. Pedders

Gary and others I was talking to about this,

Here are pix of the BC Racing coilovers from Whiteside Customs or AutoAgenda for $999,
    BC Racing BR Series Coilovers

Compared to Pedders Coilovers from them at $1711.46,

Besides the red coils do any of you spot any differences? I don't.

    T.
The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

Two differences, internal valving is different. XAs use Pedders specific valve design. Two year warranty vs. one.

Notice in the pictures you posted that the front spring on the BCs looks bigger at the top. Obviously differences in the springs.

I have them and didn't pay MSRP. Another key thing is the support you'll get from Pete. I bought Pfadt front sphericals and spent weeks troubleshooting a noise issue in my front end. Pete saw my post on Camaro 5 about my issue and sent me FREE set of his front radius rod bushings ($220 retail) to alleviate my issue. He's top notch in my opinion.

Oh, now I am not talking about support. I have met Pete and have seen how he goes above and beyond with his customer support. I agree he is top notch. I have the XA's btw.

This is merely price and product. I thought I read somewhere that BC makes the coilovers for Pedders and they are exactly the same. I will have to dig it up.

      Didn't know about the warranty.

I don't know what differences there are between them honestly... I remember seeing the threads over on the other board.. But, if they are pretty much the same.. The color scheme differences remind me of my Bandai Soul of Chogokin Robots that come in the OVA color and Black colors.

I am seriously doing this as my next mod . Thanks T for this thread. Any more feedback is greatly appreciated. Another setup I'm looking at is from Detroit Speed.

I think the story goes that the Taiwan manufacturer that makes BC and Pedders is one in the same. BC does the same thing Pedders does and outsources the building of the coilovers. Though I am not sure about the springs since I've seen videos of Pedders building springs in the USA.

I think it will be difficult to prove exactly what is different or the same. Pete for sure isn't going to tell you they are the same, and the rest is speculation. I have yet to read where anyone has dissected the two and made a real comparison.

Then there is the new Megan Racing Coilovers that run $775-$1K. It seems they have 32 settings.

Well I was going to put on, but with Kit just installed Pete thinks it is low enough maybe too low if lowered? Don't want to mess up the Body Kit he just installed.... If someone makes me an offer after I see what the clearance looks like ....$$$

Why not just run them at OE ride height then?

X2... You don't have to lower with them, even at or near stock height, still a good improvement over stock, for sure

Yeah, that front spoiler is down there. Wouldn't work on the roads in my town if lowered a lot. Wouldn't go more than an inch if you do lower. Just my opinion and it's worth what it cost. :-)

Either-way, still a nice looking ride!
