  • at speed inc...

So I'm sitting at speed inc, about to get it retuned. Curious to see what kind of damage the dealer did while they had it for 5 months.

They informed me about a week ago they changed some parts out and detuned it to make it more "streetable".

So i will update once i get the results.

What did I miss? What happened? Was this part of the clutch problem I thought I remember reading about?

Lol there was a few months where my car was at a dealer because I traded it in, but then bought it back.

So because they changed some things I want to make sure she is running perfect and from my data logs she is running PIG rich.

its better rich than lean but it's hurting the performance a little so it's not bad. Just fine tuning.

Did the first pull and he laughed at how rich it was running. Looks like I'll be changing some spark plugs soon.

No power numbers yet. Stay tuned.

                ^^

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

so i received good and bad news from speed.

                  THE GOOD NEWS.
the turbos are spooling a lot sooner than before.
and now the car drives a lot smoother.
the clutch survived and actually feels better after they beat the crap out of it.

                  THE BAD NEWS.
the dealer replaced my turbos with a different type which has caused 2 affects
1.) very high intake temperatures so they weren't able to play with the timing at all.
                  2.) i lost about 70 hp and ft/lbs.

they did say that the car produced under 500 whp on the first pull because of how bad the AFR was. So really the car feels a lot faster than how its been the past few months. and i might get better gas milage. lol

but here are the latest sheets

                  next up- clutch and intercooler.

i didn't put air filters on my turbos when i built the kit and just had screens attached to help big things from getting it, but i never really drove it in bad weather or anything.

it turns out that a stick got stuck in the screen and actually caused one of the turbos to seize up and blow the driver side turbo.

so they replaced both of the turbos because of that. ( i was asking the same thing so i literally just got off the phone with them haha)

its ok though because i was planning on getting some gt35r's this winter.

565rwhp sounds like fun. So Jim tuned it?

yup, Jim is the man. He gives me a hard time because my intake temps are so high, but does great work everytime.

I wouldn't worry too much about the lower HP.. It's much better to have correctly tuned lower power than on-edge higher power for us anyways.. I could see the debate on questionable tunes if it was a race only car..

Maybe this will help with some of your track issues you were seeing and will net you better times!

                            and get a damn intercooler!

lol yeah, this winter the intercooler will be going on. The shop really wants me to get water/meth injection first. But we will see.

and with the lower number I am happier. I am netting more power sooner and more managable power top end so its not bad at all.
