I finally got around to modding my car. I had Libertyville Chevrolet install Kooks headers, Kooks 3" Catback, SLP underdrive pulley, VMAX throttle body, Elite engineering catch can, and the G6X3 Cam package from LG motorsports. Already had a Roto Fab CAI.
Let me say that the car sounds much better. Kevin and Eric at Libertyville Chevrolet are top notch.
This is the first car that i have ever cammed and i must say it sounds great. however i need some input from some of you mod crazy guys. i did a lot of searching for cams before i decided on the G6X3. With the supporting mods i have the G6X3 was getting the lowest number of 460 hp to the wheels according to threads on the big camaro forum. The place that did the dyno tuning for Libertyville(i wont name names but its not the normal place they use in the south suburbs) came back and the car only put about 410 hp to the wheels. the shop says their dyno reads lower than others but 50 hp lower than what this cam makes on the lowest end is very significant(at least i think, again i'm new to this). also is it normal for the car to back fire when you get on it?? i got on it in first and it back fired and then got on it in third and it back fired.
i kind of want to take it to another dyno shop and have them throw it on the dyno to see what numbers it pulls. where is a good place, speedinc? straightline performance? Libertyville said they would refund the tuning fee if i take it to another place and it pulls the same numbers because they think it should be higher too but they also said i could take to another place and the numbers might be higher.
