yes.... but once again i am freak about my fluids.

the reason being is that the oil filter (which has not been redesigned) was engineered to filter for the base 3000 mi interval give or take 500 miles.

oil type doesnt change the filter design....

Guys, my car had me go roughly 6,000-8,000 miles before I finally changed it... Before I really knew Bubbles. It's easy to just keep going and leave it to OLM.... You guys got the nice speech.

i am just a nazi when it comes to the fluids. i see it day in and day out... people not caring for their vehicles and then crying when they have massive failures. i love my car. i plan on keeping it... forever. good and bad. because of that i will spend alittle extra now to make sure it stays with me.

i just find it boggling that the standards that are in print in our owners manuals are so far from what should happen.

the fluids do not last that long.... even in "perfect" conditions. the coolant turns to acid at 4-5 years... regardless of mileage. brake fluid starts taking on water the second it is poured into the res... i can keep going and going.... but GM printed what they did so that they could present a more cost friendly greener vehicle that the consumer wanted. all in the name of selling cars... and the fact that no one wants to spend the time, money, and effort to "keep something nice" like they used to.

sorry if i seem abit harsh... i just see it day in and day out from the other side of the fence... and know what happens behind the curtian.

no apologies needed. I asked because I wanted to know. As I stated it was hard for me to even consider that mileage for an oil change.

and Wiki sorry about the "holy $h!t get that crap changed now!" i probably said to you about your fluids.... oh so long ago.

the other thing i have to point out is that we are told by GM that we HAVE to push the OLM.... it sucks.... and all of my techs hate it.

i always ask people when they ask me when to change their oil "do you love your car? and do you plan on keeping it for an extended amount of time?" and depending upon their answer i tell them to follow the OLM or not.

I think if you are beating on the car I would change the oil more frequently, but maybe for someone like Heather, maybe after the next track outing. I would mostly just make sure you don't need to top it off. Seems like the LS3/L99 motor's PCV systems are better than the LS1, because it was not uncommon for us to have to add half a quart or more if we were making a lot of passes at the drag strip.

Seems like you mostly want to do the cam for sound, don't really care how how it drives.... I bet a big cam will surge pretty bad at a light with a stock converter.

The cam is for power/sound. I love the sound of a cammed car. I want the car to still drive nice on the street. Depending on the cam ive been told I can run on the stock one. Will update with information I get from libertyville tomorrow.

No worries.. I didn't get all butt hurt over it.. Just was told to go by OLM from other sources and that was when I was still learning the car.

so got the quote today 4200 before tax

                    Cam
                    kooks headers
                    L99 to LS3 conversion
                    3200 stall

I dont know if I want to run the kooks headers tho. I dont think there is much difference in kooks or any other header and I could probably knock a few hundred off going with a different option.

Tune? Even w/o the tune that's a steal of a price.

oops yea that includes the tuning.

I was quoted 4100 w/o tax and no headers from MM when I had my G8. So yeah it is a pretty good price.

Sounds like fun. Are you more or less interested in drag racing or road racing? Reason I ask, I probably would not do more converter for road racing. For drag racing, absolutely. What brand converter would you get?

I have only made 3 passes at the 1/4 before and never road raced. I want to try road racing this year to see how I like it.
