If Randy didn't blow up his car you should be fine. I run mine pretty hard (nearly 20 passes last time at the track) and it runs like a champ. Just be prepared for a few things with the cam:

    1. Drive-throughs will hate you. They can't hear you and you can't hear them
    2. If you don't get a stall, make sure you're firmly on the brake, the car just takes off.
    3. If you have a lady in your life that isn't a car girl, she's most likely going to be scared of the car and not want to drive it (not necessarily a bad thing) or ride in it.
4.IF its wet out, forget about staying straight
    5. Be prepared to wake up your neighborhood if you start it up early in the morning (again, maybe not a bad thing if you don't care for your neighbors).

It's a big goal, but I think I can get there. I had a heads/cam/na setup in my 98 Formula went 11.6-11.7 back in 1999. My 2000 Z/28 went 10.92@123 NA with stock cubes, heads, cam, everything, and 10.008@133 on a 150 shot.

Basically I think mid 12's are very easy in the car based on my reading, and 12.2's and quicker will really require a converter.

Lol that great! Not too worried about other people. I'm not going to purposely piss someone off but if it happens I'll apologize and move on.

All three of us were beating on the cars fairly hard.... I was honestly expecting the engine to go kaboom with all the constant high reving, etc.. I'm just not used to keeping an engine up that high for that long.

I'll start a build thread on here.

Yeah the trick to keeping motors like this alive are to keep the fluids topped up and not beat up the transmission too bad. That's why I was saying in that other thread that Frank should have been running a trans cooler after he did the blower, the fluid will get hot, burn, and lose it's properties.

That is the scary part i think about! I have occasionally went into Manual mode and did some slightly sprinted driving on the highway/ramps and I just feel like im destroying the engine leaving it at higher RPMS.

Do you go by what GM says for fluid changes or do it differently? I always want to change my oil sooner then the car tells me to and running that many miles scares me between oil changes.

NEVER EVER EVER NEVER go by the OLM. for the love of God... if you love your car, are not leasing it, and have ANY intention of keeping it... do not go by the OLM. EVER!!!!

as far as other fluids... i am a freak about them.

Umm... How can you explain GM not updating the OLM's algorithm then, if it's so far off?

they have in certain vehicles as a recall... mainly the 3.6 motors that have massive timing chain issues due to low and dirty oil causing the timing chain tensioners to wear and the timing to jump teeth.

10287C: Customer Satisfaction - Premature Timing Chain Wear-Reprogram Engine Control Module - (Apr 13, 2012)

Subject:10287C – Premature Timing Chain Wear – Reprogram Engine Control Module

                              Equipped with HFV6 Engine

                              Condition

On certain 2007 model year GMC Acadia; Saturn OUTLOOK; 2007-2009 model year Cadillac CTS, SRX, STS; 2009 model year Buick Enclave; Chevrolet Traverse; GMC Acadia; and Saturn OUTLOOK vehicles equipped with a HFV6 engine, under certain driving conditions, and with extended oil change intervals, the timing chain could wear prematurely and cause the illumination of the Service Engine Soon light.
                              Correction

Dealers are to reprogram the engine control module, including the engine oil life monitor.

the reasoning behind the OLM was to present a "greener" lower cost to own vehicle.... it has major flaws tho... i have seen OLMs cause people to go 20K between oil changes and almost no one checks their oil anymore... and GM left out the low oil light... that too in itself is a mistake they are paying for.

we have opened up engines that the owner has adheared to the OLM on and found caked sludge that takes hours to clean and sometimes causes an engine replacement .

all in the name of being green.... just like the prius it comes with a larger carbon foot print then before.
Racing is my life, everything else is just minor details.
