As I noted in the sponsor area, I recently had a torque converter swap. Went with a 3200 from Precision. I am not going to pretend that I understand how this thing works, but if you're an auto you should seriously consider this mod. I launched the car like a rocket ship today, unreal how fast it shot out the hole. Its also more fun to drive on the street too. Crazy how the RPMs just hold through up shifts, and unreal on the drag strip. A good converter is worth up to .5 seconds on your 1/4 mile time. Thanks to the banned one for pushing me to the converter. He had it right, I should have done this mod first, then worried about the cam.

I think there was another L99 with a tire, LT and a 3600 converter and he hit 12.4. Dollar for dollar, hard to get results like this from another mod.

Converters are good stuff, I've run anywhere from a 3200 to a 5500 in the past. Basically it will 'stall' to a higher rpm so you can then launch at spot higher in your power band. And the higher it flashes, the higher you will stay in the power band after the shift, some will call that shift extension or shift recovery. If you make peak HP at 6200, For all-out drag car NA you'd run a 5500 stall, and it would only drop to 4500-4700 on the shift. At that rpm, say 4700, you are still making 90% of the power you make at peak. If you have a flat power curve, like some big stroker, you might not be as concerned about staying in the top of your power band but it can depend.
One 4th gen I had I ran a 4800 8" stall with a TH400 and a transbrake. It 'only' went 1.48 on motor but 1.38 on 150 shot since it was flashing to like 5500 on the 'brake.
I'll do one eventually too, I need buy someone a 6 pack so they'll let me drive a 3600 I want to see if it feels like too much for me (with this car).

I am still trying to figure out my new converter too. I am running a yank 3600. I tried launching at a bunch of rpms, I haven't tried just rolling on when the light changes. My best 60' so far is a 1.81 on a Nitto NT05R.
When I first got the car back from the install and tune, I was contemplating getting rid of the converter. Turns out the tuner who did my car just doesn't know how to tune the a6 trans. So I took the time to learn, and spent some money, and I LOVE the car now with the converter.
If anyone else needs any help with their transmission tune, let me know.

Yank 3600 eh, any kinda bribe I could use to drive your car around the block? I'd just like to feel how loose it is compared to stock. Do you have a trans cooler too?2010 Camaro SS/RS L99
