Not only do they add power but you loose some weight by getting rid of the stock cast iron manifolds. So it is a win win situation.
The supporting mods Syck is talking about is your exhaust. If you have an aftermarket exhaust you will see greater gains, sometimes, depending on the exhaust you choose. You will also loose some weight by getting an aftermarket exhaust. Again win win.
A tune, while not required but recommended, will also get you some HP. If you have an Auto they can also adjust your trans to shift better gaining you some speed as well.
Then there is the issue of whether or not to coat your headers.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.
