It was my first time with a SC car so I thought the tires were breaking traction. However without the SC I did not notice it. My options now are go with a conversion kit to a HP4L80e or take a chance with a HP 6L80e (that most builders seem skeptical about).
Ouch.. I only have a passing familiarity with the autos in these cars... but, that's gotta suck.. Just extra damage from the low fluid that may not have been otherwise present? I've had my blower on for over a year now and have had hard street and track miles.. Just now started to notice clutch issues up at Road America, but the full verdict is still out on whether it was just super hot fluid or actual clutch issues.

I've not heard good things about built A6 in these cars.. But, again that's just what I've read.. Most seem to switch to a 4 speed.

Last cooler I got was somewhere around 28,000 GWV I think.

If the fluid gets hot, it burns up just like in an M6 car. Then it will flare and shift funny, even slip.

FLT and RPM won't touch the 6L80 and will try to get you to do a swap. It's counter productive to swap in a 4L60 because it is inherently a weaker trans. If you are going to swap a 4 speed then you need to go to a 4L80.

Both Century and Circle D in Texas have been doing some great things with the 6L80. They have multiple low 10-high 9 second Vettes with 6L80's. IMO that is your best best, a swap gets very costly and you lose the benefit of 2 extra gear ratios which make a huge difference on the street, especially on a roll.

Personally I would rather stick with a 6L80 and keep the extra two gears. The more research I do on this subject I find that most trans shops are not familiar with the 6L80 and they seem to condemn it. And the shops that do deal with them are confident and have success with it. How about Monster Trans? Has anyone heard anything about them?

Monster doesnt seem to have a good rep.... The problem with the 6l80 is that is swaps clutches at gear change vs adding clutches like the 4l80. If the tune/timing of this clutch swap is off the least little bit, trans is done...

Like I said in a previous post, I am in the process of swapping in a 4l80 right now... swapping out the M6. I will have approx $ 4300 into the swap all said and done. The trans is from Jakes and is warrantied for 750hp...

Century also warranties the trans for 1 year, unlimited. I plan getting there stage 2 econo upgrade whenever I have issues with my 6L80.

There is a guy on CorvetteForum who put an LS7 into his C6 A6 and he's worked with Century to get the 6L80E figured out. If you search on 'Century 6L80E CorvetteForum' he should come up.

Someday when I need a trans in this car I will only do a 6L80E.

F.Y.I. I sent my Trans to century Trans in Houston and after they received the Trans they mention that the performance clutch discs are on national back order and eta is two weeks Grrrrr I wish they would have told me that before I sent it almost two weeks ago.

Frank would you mind sharing how much they charge to redo a 6L80E?

That sucks but they are one of the best and only shops building strong 6speeds. I can't wait to hear how it does.

With a 2800-3200 stall around 4k which is reasonable. FYI my experiance and advice to all L99 owners ready to build their motor is...do not overlook cooling your Trans, this is what I did after the fact ImageUploadedByTapatalk1337519767.977554.jpg I did not show the finished product but I had custom bradded hoses made and it looks fantastic.

Update; Century Transmission had my Trans for three weeks saying the high performance clutches were on back order and to make the matter worse I found out that the clutches were back ordered two weeks before I sent my Trans to them (which they did not mention before I sent them my Trans). I finally got tired of waiting and was referred to Circle D transmission, circle D was only 31 miles away from Century and was my second choice, thank god I sent it to them, they had the Trans rebuilt and sent back to me within 10 days (like they promised). They also want me to pull the tune and send it to them so they can modify the shift points. Once I receive the tune back they want me to record the shifts and send it to them again. Bottom line Circle D is where I should have gone first.

So you had your trans shipped from Century to Circle D?

Congrats, would like to hear how this goes. What kind of power are you making?
