I have not seen great deals on used CAI. Ordering right from Roto Fab I can get a CAI for under 350. If you see any deals I am missing feel free to send me a PM or list them here. I am on all the boards
They come and go.. I've seen a couple good deals when someone is returning to OEM in a hurry.. Otherwise, it's the exhaust kits that I've seen the biggest cost savings on buying used...
For tone... I have Borla Touring and it's loud enough to know the car has a bite to match its bark, but not like an SLP LoudMouth 2 that will make you go deaf in the cabin at cruising speeds.. Looks like the thread has you covered on the other bits..
You'll get the most out of headers + cats, hi flow cats only w/ manifolds and a CAI added to either of those.. --- Headers + Cats will most certainly require a tune (you'd be lucky if not), hi-flos only with OEM manifolds is iffy.... Some people get away with no CEL.. Some don't..
I went straight to blower + full exhaust, so I had a tune.

I had jba high flows before going to headers. I got a cel on and off, but it didn't impact anything. I believe the solo high flows don't throw a code like the jba's do. Compared to other Ss models with a cai and axle backs, I was running 0.2 faster in the 1/4. And you get a louder and deeper exhaust. I have my jba 's sitting around somewhere and would be cheap to a new home.

I've heard similar about Solo HiFlos... I just remember there being long threads about whether or not CELs would show by doing HiFlos only, etc.. Some people even seem to get away for a while with LTs.. 0.2 isn't surprising.. Most our restrictions on the V8s are manifolds and cats.
