Catback/Axleback exaust?

I believe a cat-back is the complete setup from the exit-end of the catalytic converters to the exhaust tips. Axle-back is just the end bit between the rear axle and the exhaust tips.
IIRC, the stock system can just be unbolted from the catalytic converters in one piece, no cutting.

Exactly what Tony said. The Axle back replaces from the rear axle back to the tips. It doesn't produce much power gain and is used mostly to change sound. Also the factory pipes must be cut to remove the mufflers and the axle back is either welded or clamped on. The factory 2.5" piping is retained all the way to the cats and the resonators are still intact.
The cat back is a bolt on system that requires not cutting. It replaces the factory pipes, resonators and mufflers. They can be had in the 2.5 and 3" systems and produce HP gains as well as sound. The also can be bolted or welded in place.
If your looking for just sound and don't have any future mods planned go with the axle back and save money. If you want more power and have future mods planned, don't spend money twice and get the cat back.

Definitely go with cat-back. That way too, if you wanted to go back to the stock system it's easy.sigpic

I've been doing some research, and after watching a youtube video and found this company. What do you guys think of this:

The guys here have basically covered the differences well. The fact of suggesting a system is kinda tough since an exhaust sound is like a color of a car...you may like something different then the next guy.
most people have been going with the simple axle backs, but as noted it does require cutting the stock system to remove the mufflers
We have not really seen much of any gains with axle backs or catbacks and more so sound. I like to be honest in everything we do, so hope you can appreciate that. I would suggest headers 1st with a stock catback since you will gain both power and sound, but if it's more sound you are after the catback or axle back is where it's at.
We have many sales now and offer $55 labor for an catback or axle back install with the purchase of a system.
