What shop are you guys using, and who has the best pricing? Also what is the avg price I should pay for a tune after my cam swap? Thanks

    First, give us details, .

Second, My first choice would be Komet Motorsports in St. Charles and second would be Finish Line Performance in Naperville. Knowing you live down south FLP is probably your best bet.

Third, a tune for a cam is no different in price than for anything else. It is usually in the $400-$500 range.

    When are you installing this?

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

I wouldn't have any body other than Jim @Speed Inc. tune my LS car.

I second that he's tuned cars for me a number of times. Knows his stuff.

Definitely Jim from Speed Inc. He knows his stuff. You know he is good when people overseas fly him in to tune their car.

If you have a 2011, forget FLP. They don't have the dyno license. I checked in August and last week. I did not get the impression they were considering buying any it at this point in time, so I went elsewhere.

For the price, yeah $450 to $500 is what I was quoted from several places. When you ask for a price, make sure you find out if they will include a baseline pull (assuming you want it). FLP wanted extra on top the $500. I got one included for $450 before my header install, so I'll have two days between pulls since someone else did the install. Not the ideal situation, but better than not having any idea of my gains.

Humm... if I had HP tuners could I tune the car myself? I am thinking about installing a LS stage 2 cam, 227/239 551./.551.... this cam is ment to make allot of torque and sound nasty! Pretty much what I want. Not sure yet, its ethier that or some suspension work and a short throw. Depends on money.

Yes but HPTuners is not cheap, $500 for Standard and $650 for Pro, and the learning curve is steep, from what I have heard. Then you would need to rent a Dyno @ $150-$200 an hour. You could do it on the street but it is not quite the same. If you make a mistake in your tuning you could grenade your engine.

Of course once you got good enough, and hadn't blown your sh!t up, you could start tuning other cars after purchasing additional credits.

just talked to Tony at FLP he said they should have the license at the first of the year for 2011 Camaros, i asked him why they didnt already have it... and i found out how much it costs and i honestly dont blame him for waiting until they had more interest.... geeze its expensive!

By waiting he's losing business. Mike b went there and so did my step dad. Both are getting tuned elsewhere now.

That tells me they don't have the experience or resources a shop like speed inc does.

First the tuning of a 10-12 is the same. Same maps timing ect. Secondly I don't get the uber negative response to everything around here lately. I just posted up some updated info that I thought people would possibly be interested in and I guess that was my dumb a$$ fault for seeking out info as to why and possibly when something would be available. It's like vultures waiting to pounce or housewives with nothing better then to gossip and bad mouth anything that isn't in their point of view or what they don't have.

Maybe you shouldnt take everything personally. If they're not dyno tuning 11s-12s because they can't afford the license, that tells me they're not getting enough work to cover their costs and can't possibly have as much experience as some of the larger shops. They lost two customers in this thread because of it. That's 2 less cars of experience in my book. Who knows how many others have been turned away.
