For those who live south and don't want to travel up way up north, Bill Kay's in Lisle also does performance work. I just talked at length with George the service director about mods for my car. He is a Master Certified Corvette Specialist and has been doing this for 41 years. He sits on the board for GM as well and was lucky enough to recently get a ride in a ZL1. (says he selling one of his garage queens and getting the ZL1 through his connections.) Guy knows his stuff. Turns out he's friends with all the guys at Libertyville and claims he got that dealer into doing performance work. This is not meant to be a one dealer is better than the other, only that we have another dealer in the area that is fully capable of doing good work and know our cars.

Bill Kay has 5 certified Corvette specialists. They work with Straightline in New Lenox for doing their tunes. Libertyville now uses Straightline as well as Speedinc. George told me that if I have work done with him, since they know the car and what was done, I would be taken care of for any issue with the powertrain. Caveat... I talked about a SC and my desire to get 500 RWHP, come to find out the Camaro is good for 450 HP on the rear end. So obviously if I do something like buy wider wheels and lock up the rear end and it breaks, my tough luck.

I will be holding off until spring to have motor work done though. No point in doing it now only to put in away in the garage for the winter. Taking the car to Showstopper next week to replace my stripes with real paint. Can't wait.
I'm at 615RWHP/566TQ with my Maggie and heads. If this statement is true,I see my next big mod on the horizon.

That 450 HP number is what he told me the rear was designed for. He put it this way, basically a stock LS3 is 360ish which is well below the design target and you should never have problems. So how much and how long can you stress it? Who knows.

But yeah, seems like you can buy an upgraded rear end for about 1500 plus labor. Guess that's not so bad considering what a SC costs.
