  • Exhaust changeout - Borla?

I currently have the GMPP Performance axle back exhaust. It sounds good, but I think I want more. I really like the sound clips of the Borla Atak system.

First - Axle Back or Cat Back? What's the benefit going with a Cat Back over the Axle Back? Is there a huge sound difference or is it mostly performance?

Second - Are there any forum sponsors that sell and install Borla systems? If so, can I get a quote? I know I'm kind of far away, but I don't mind driving for good service and pricing.

Lastly - Anyone have any bad experiences with Borla?

    Thanks!

I have the Borla Cat-Back. I love it! There is no improvement in prefomance for either due to the restrictions in the headers and the cats. The difference is pure sound and if you ask me the cat-back was well worth the extra money over the axel-back. Just my opinion. As for the sponsor question. I bought and had it installed by Speed Inc. who is a sponsor of our club. I hope that helps.

There is ZERO performance gains to be had in a cat back.

The only thing you're going to find in either a cat back or axle back is the sound....which is a good thing, because bone stock the SS sounds like a Prius.

Take the extra cash you'd spend on a cat back and get yourself a nice CAI or put it towards a set of longtubes.

Long tubes + cat back exhaust sounds really sweet.

I knew there was something better about the 4th Gen SS, bone stock...

Maybe GM should reengage SLP to work on the SS packages...

Thanks for the responces. I'm going tomorrow to have my Borla Atak Cat Back system installed. I can't wait!!!!! I've got the CAI, guess I need to think about headers down the road. Think the wife would shoot me if I mentioned headers right now.
