  • Muffler delete???

Has anyone done or heard a muffler delete on an l99? I'm thinking about trying it this week...my car is too quiet and I don't have the money for the exhaust I want yet

I have the gm off-road exhaust, which basically puts resonators in place of the mufflers, and it sounds good. Added a bit more tone over stock but isn't overbearingly loud.
Pull the mufflers off and see how it sounds, if it's too loud put resonators in place of the mufflers.

Cut off mufflers today sounds really good for that simple of a mod ... now I just need someone to bend and weld me some pipes

Not too far from you -

A lot of guys in the Grand Prix forums that I was a part of got work done at Fair Muffler in La Grange, they do good work. They also put a test pipe in my buddy's 95 Z28

otherwise Garrett can do it, I'm sure, he's just quite a bit north of you

Just step on the gas when the AFM kicks in and everyone wins!

I don't understand why some people have gone so crazy about the AFM sound. I agree it doesn't sound pretty, but its not like its kicking in 90% of the time. Don't put the car on cruise at 40mph and you'll almost never hear it.

Last week I heard a 4th gen Firebird with no exhaust and bolt ons and it was so loud that you had to yell to talk over it. It sounded beautiful, but I'm afraid I'd go deaf w/o mufflers!

I have an LS3 and LOVE the muffler delete. I wasted $450 on an Axelback. Sold for $200 and had a quality mandrel bent pipes welded in. GO FOR IT. Don't waste your money on an axelback. Since you have an automatic, you should get a dyno and they can adjust for that.

With the auto V8, under low-load conditions, I think four cylinders shut down.
