  • Baseline vs. Mod dyno graph

I know everyone likes to debate the merit of one dynos numbers over another, but you can't dispute a baseline over a modded pull when they are on the same dyno.

    Mods:
    Roto-Fab CAI
    Comp Cams XR281HR13 .571/.590 228/240 on a 113 LSA
    Kooks 1 7/8 w/ cats
    SLP Loudmouth Axle Back
    NGK TR6 plugs
Tuned by Straightline Performance in New Lenox

So here's my baseline pull with the final modded pull side by side :

So, about 60 more horse peak. Do you have a list of what was added? That would go nicely in this thread.

What process did you go by to determine which cam you wanted to select, or did you just take a shop's recommendation?

Also, is it safe to assume a more aggressive cam will always result in a lower MPG penalty? I would be curious if you baselined your MPG before and measured after modding...

Drivability and power made my choice.....

As for MPG? Is this a serious question????

80 rwhp is quite a bit, That should give the car a nice kick in the pants!

I guess I have never gotten serious about selecting a new cam. So did you just phone a bunch of cam manufacturers and ask them what would be best for your application of drivability & power, and then compare/contrast?

MPG is just curiosity, probably very rhetorical, but it's always interesting to see how much changes like this make.

Agreed... For me it came down to what cam made the most HP but still had great street manners. My wife is the driver of my car and I personaly did'nt want the cam so aggresive that it caused surging or idleling problems and made it so she would hate driving it. But on the other hand,it had to provide gobs of HP and torque which it does. (even more so after heads and 4:10s)
                It comes down to research,research,research. Reading,asking questions,etc.
As far as MPG go I never kept track of what it was before the cam.so I have no real world numbers to compare it to after the cam install but I hav'nt noticed any real drop. I suppose if it was a DD I would keep better track of it.
