  • Jannetty Racing CAI Testing

Nice info in this thread on Camaro5.

They ran Cold Air Inductions, K&N, Airaid, and Injen. Injen looks to be the winner for HP and TQ gains.

The filter being down so low just scares me. LOL

the injen did win out in peak HP/TQ numbers, but from the dyno graphs they posted, the Injen didnt have the best low end numbers, so it's going to depend on what the end user wants out of the CAI. I'm going to put the Airaid on the top of my list. The downside on the results on the Airaid were the IAT's, but that seems to simply be a lack of air coming into the intake, (NOT heatsoak) which is easily fixable. -Airaid had some of the best low end gains.

I like how the people from CAI inc chimed in everytime someone didn't like their product. One guy gave his personal ranking and had them last, and the next post was CAI asking why. They seem a little defensive.

What I found interesting is that all of a sudden the CAIs are getting some decent results for the V6. I pretty much wrote off every adding one because they didn't seem to do anything (and I didn't want the injen, I would certainly screw up that install). Now I think I am going to have to think hard about adding one.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat, especially with Jannety backing Injen even with it's low-to-the-ground filter position. They made a post that people were putting too much into the potential-hydrolock issue.

The potential hydro lock issues are there, but I likely wouldn't drive through that much water anyhow... but at least from the dyno video, the Injen was quite loud. Some engine noise is cool, but it doesn't need to sound like a vacuum cleaner

Video? Where? I didn't see the graphs the first time, either.

Wonder why they did not test both the K&N's

Both? Are there two different ones?

Yes one is Plastic and the other is Polished Metal?

I like to look of the polished one...

Oh, pretty sure the chrome just holds more heat.

I just purchased the Fastlane. Looking for average power through the powerband was my goal, and this seemed to fit the bill. I've got good baseline dyno numbers so I'll be able to give a good review when it's installed.
