  • V6 Gas Mileage - What ya gettin'?

We've had our 1LT for awhile now and I've noticed the gas mileage is not what I thought it was going to be. I know each person is different and their driving style affects the numbers and such, but I'm curious as to what everyone else is getting with normal City and Highway driving.

Also in your response can you indicate whether you're running 87 or 93 octane in your car, please.

    Thanks!

Overall average for me is about 24. Highway is 28-30.

I use only 93 octane as the motor runs much better with it (less bogging/hesitation).

City I get about 17mpg, Highway is more like 23-25mpg. This is also partly due to my upgraded rear end which is now a 3.91. Prior to the 3.91 install, I was seeing about 20 city and 25-27 highway, but i also have a lead foot. Anyone in the club can attest to that.

My best was 29mpg. But I was doing 55mph for like an hour, not very fun!

While running the airaid intake, in mixed driving, I was getting 20-21. After flipping to the CAI, it's 22-23 unless I can't keep my foot out of it... And mixed driving is anywhere from 15-70. Usually on 87, occasionally 93

Since I'm waiting on the 3rd period to start I thought I would elaborate a bit as to what prompted my question. Okay, so I was putting gas in Melissa's LT and scrolled through the display to see what the gas mileage was and reset it like I always do in both of our cars. It read 14mpg. I was like, WTH! My SS does better than this!

I asked Melissa how she had been driving it because she normally has a heavy foot. (Don't tell her I said though.) She thought that she had not been driving very aggressively or with her normal led foot. So, she's going to try and be more conscience about it and we'll keep an eye on the mileage. We may drive it this Saturday and see how it does on the highway.

I was just blown away by the 14 number. Seems to me that you would have to drive very hard for it to be 14, IMO.

What's her average commute like? Karla gets less than I do in her car, since she only goes 3 miles one way to work

I have been getting 20 city and 30 highway very consistently. I have been using 93 Octane sine I put in my tune almost 2 years ago.

Based on my gauge, I average about 17.5 consistently. Although, I don't think I have ever reset it, so that is the average for 13K miles... Oh, and I am also a led foot! :-)
