  • Tuning a V6

I emailed Steve but they do not tune the V6's. Does anyone have a source to get this done? I have CAI ordered and will do headers at the same time as the tune.

They do do the tunes I have them now! Trifecta tune.

I have read that there are zero gains to be had over a factory tune on the V6.

Now, the addition of a CAI and headers seems like a different story.

According to "scrming" over at Camaro5, there is a Trifecta tune now available for the V6 Camaro. It claims and increase of 24hp and 17tq. All in all, probably worth it, although I will wait for any fine tuning to the program, for harder shift points and also will need headers/injen intake to take advantage of new software. I would imagine the Trifecta software will tune towards higher octane fuel to increase hp and create less knock sensor activity which would back off timing and kill hp. The heatsoak on the stock setup IAT sensor is what is killing our horsepower. That sensor needs to be moved from its current location as the temp is reading too high because the sensor is located right below the upper radiator hose. This V6 is a fun car!!!

Go into the v6 engine mods section on Camaro5, there is info on tunes nearly every day. Gains have been modest compared to the money spent. CAI is other than injen is getting 0, and even the injen is modest. The tune is helping this out at katman mentioned, but people have spent nearly a grand and walked away with 20 hp. Unfortunately our engine doesn't seem to have a whole lot left to give, its pretty well tuned from the factory.

I would imagine focusing on bolt-ons first, and tuning later as the system as a whole becomes much better understood...

I can do the tunes on the V6 now including data logging and mild gains are to be expected depending upon your mods. I am an independent distributer for Trifecta.

Someone needs to start a nice 5th Gen. V6 write-up like was done for the 4th Gen. V6 performance improvements:
                - Tom Henry RS V6 Camaro Project
                :Yep:

I will have to do that! I am doing a writeup for a few other things too. One being the tuning with CAI, Exhaust, and the Trifecta tune.

I will also be doing a writeup for the RS Light change as well....

Also on the list is the turbo upgrade!!

                  Hum.. time and money.......

That would be great! From the article I linked on the 4th Gen V6 upgrades, the key to all they did was getting a bunch of sponsors, and they had the articles in 'Camaro Performers" magazine...

                      FYI, found the details:

"Trifecta Tunes First 2010 Camaro V6!!

Here’s dyno results from what we believe to be the first aftermarket-tuned 2010 Camaro V6. Peak gains were 24HP and 17TQ at the wheels, almost a 10% gain. The car was bone stock other than an AirRaid intake. Tuned by Trifecta Performance using their own tuning solution along with Palmer Performance’s ScanXL data logger package. Dyno services were provided by Drift Office LLC of Auburn, WA."

Has anyone got the STS kit in the Chicago area that anyone knows of? If so, where can you get your V6 Camaro Dyno Tuned with an STS kit?

There are a couple of places to get it dyno'd. No one in the Chitown area has it that I know of. I do know I am working with a company in CA on a set of headers for a turbo under the hood vrs in the rear of the car.....PM me and I can send you the details of the shop I know of.

One of our sponsors has a dyno too.
