  • Best sounding V6 Exhaust?

So my Dad's friend has a V6 5th Gen with an MRT exhaust (gotta check which) and isn't happy with the sound, apparently too horn-like sounding -- what have you found to be the best sounding V6 exhaust?

The Borla adjustable cat-back seems to be the best sounding 4th Gen V6 exhaust -- how is Borla's 5th Gen V6 offering? Others better?

I like my Solo cat back.Sounds great,no cruise speed drone noise. You can actually hold a conversation without yelling, but when you hit the gas it wakes up.It has adjustable Hemholtz pipes that you can adjust to tune out the drone. It was 895.00 shipped .

I have the MRT 2.0 and it is a bit quieter at idle and has less drone than the 1.0.

From what I have heard on cars, the Flowmaster American Thunder is a bit deeper in tone.

SLP Loudmouth II sounds great, but you have to deal with some drone.

I have the Flowmaster Hushpower exhaust for V8's modded by Pete to fit the V6, low deep tone but the usual drone occurs @ around 70mph.

Interesting, hadn't heard of Solo before, have any pictures? Esp. interested in what the adjustable parts look like and how that works...

I am surprised Borla didn't do their adjustable setup for 5th Gens...

I've been looking at it, checked out some youtube vids and kinda like the way it sounds.

Does anyone have Stainless Works cat back?? I just came across it and it sounds pretty decent for v6 but sounds like it may have a decent amount of drone.

So here's the followup from my OP.

The guy I was referring to replaced the factory originals with the MTR2’s. He said the Borla (didn't specify which variety) had a resonance at around 60 MPH and he didn’t want that. My Dad drove behind him and says they sounded OK to him this time (still ricey though) -- it’s a weird sound coming from a car you’d expect to have a V8 sound coming from.

probably a axle back as my catback has none of that.

I have yet to hear a V6 exhaust that does not have rasp. It may just be the nature of the beast. Also, note that the sound is deeper in the car than it is on the outside.

I can't remember what Priz's Flowmasters sounded like under WOT, though. I recall thinking that it was deeper than the mine (MRT 2).
