  • '11 vs. '12 V6 more power potential?

Chances are, I am more likely to get a new V6 (year round) before a new V8 (fun & nice weather).

Anyone found any good analysis yet about whether the '10/'11 or '12 V6 has more power potential? I know the '12 has a little more power off the lot (312/233 vs. 323/241 HP/TQ) -- far cry from my current V6 205/225 HP/TQ (stock), but what about performance improvements -- is there really much of a difference in what you can put out with either? Headers, CAI, etc. Or is it still too early to know?

From what I've read, you won't be able to put headers on the '12 V6, but it will have the same ECM as the '10-12 V8, so FI will be easier.

Just because you can't put a header on doesn't mean you can't get the same gains from a full exhaust. From what I've seen the head is cast to channel the 3 exhaust ports in to one exit on each head. After that a "downpipe" is used and attached to cats and then to the stock h-pipe and cat-back. These "downpipes" or "intermediate pipes" I'm sure flow less than an optimal amount of air due to emissions. I'll bet a good set of intermediates that use high flow cats or eliminate the cats will show good power gains over stock. They will probably be cheaper than headers too.

          Right. Turbos should fit well

That could be good for tuning. Anyone found concrete proof of that? I read some folks are taking delivery of '12 models already... Is the ECM tuning issue with the '10/'11 V6s just because it's relatively unknown or complex?

I imagine the engine/exhaust change is the prelude a '13 V6 model with a turbo(s) -- maybe a Leno Camaro variation. Which would make sense, as it seems to be the direction CTS and/or ATS is going from what I read.
