  • OBX headers

So..... I am looking for new headers for Big Red and I came across these 304-ss OBX headers. They come in the same size and length as the BBK 1-3/4" LT headers for the V6, however, they are around 500$ cheaper. Anyone used or know anything about these headers?? They are Stainless just like the BBK's. I have done some research and a lot of people like them, and most people who knock them are basing it on the price and the dis-belief factor. As far as I am concerned, there are only minor differences from other header systmes (mainly at the exhaust ports). Thanks for any helpful info anyone may be able to offer

Oh man... OBX... I wish you luck on an unbiased response!

I've seen the threads over on C5 about this brand..

I went with Doug Thorley's on mine for cost reasons. Mine were 808.00 shipped to me w/ HiFlo cats and I'm happy with them.

I just want to get opinions, honestly I like the BBK Silver Ceramic coated, but they are almost 900$. If I can find the same for cheaper than I will go with them but only if they aren't s*#t.

The issue is that some vendors are going to try and sell you the most expensive parts they have or the ones they can markup the most -- those are also some of the ones that will come jack the thread about things like these OBX with claims of quality, fitment, made in China and being a "stolen design" -- I'm sure you've seen that over on C5 by the commentary in your OP here. Not saying they're not valid points (I honestly don't know) -- but, there is a definite pattern on certain components and certain questions. This holds true with FI vs. NA engines, Wheels/Tires, etc.

I don't have OBX nor do I know anyone that has them -- so, I cannot help you there.. I'm just wishing you luck on getting actual answers to your opinions.. Not someone/some company bashing your question/choice just to line their pockets with more of your $$.

Yeah, C5 had some people bashing it and some supporting, but both sides seemed to have a "agenda". I just want Big red to be ready for this summers SCCA, but I don't want to go poor because I could have gotten the same performance parts under a different name for 2-4 hundred cheaper. Thanks guys for your help.

            You're welcome..

If you were an 8 Cyl, I'd tell you to look in to the Doug Thorleys... They were a nice price for me and at 1 & 3/4" with 2.5" collectors are performing quite well, even with my supercharger -- 560RWHP/520RWTQ. I may have pulled a little more from the build going with the normal 1 & 7/8s, but those are also more expensive and for me.. Saving a little $$ was more important than the overall numbers. -- I had to look around for over 6 months for deals, specials, reviews, etc. to piece most of my recent mods together..
