  • Buying a CAI this Friday

Need some guidance. After looking at all info out there, I am stuck between Cold Air Inductions and AIRAID. Anybody have either of these and how do you feel about it??

I just recieved my roto-fab CAI. I have not gotten a chance to install it yet, but I have high hopes. Much of my decision was in the looks department, and it offered a dry air filter. I also spent a little time looking at cold air inductions which has a nice look with a glass panel and optionally black powder coat finish. All of them seemed to show good results and no tune required. Sorry I dont own either but figured you wouldnt mind a random comment.

I just installed my Roto-Fab.It was easy to install with great instructions.I also ordered their windshield washer reservoir which mounts behind the air box.It eliminates the washer bottle in the airbox. It is a much cleaner look.

I will look into Roto-Fab, but has anyone had any luck/disappointment with the Cold Air Inductions air intake or AIRAID intake???

I have the AIRAID on my V6. Love it! I will try and track down the testing dyno graph that I had when I ordered my AIRAID

                    250-242 is AIRAID's part number

Okay. Thanks again. When I looked it up it had 250-242 and 251-242 and I just wanted to make sure I got the right one. The 251-242 had "synthamax" and was 10$ more expensive. I thought maybe they were V1 and V2. Thanks again Toasty.

Just ordered it, will be here Thursday...... Yay!!!

I had the CAI intake, it was great. Looked awesome too. IF you want to know about performance, check the fast list for V6 here and look at the top. Also see C5, I was in the top 10 with only that CAI and flowmaster axle back, while most everyone else on the list had the injen, LTs, drag radials and/or tune. I haven't ever ran a dyno, but my track times improved after adding the CAI intake.

Only reason I say "had" is I traded in my V6 last week for an SS, and stupidly didn't put the stock intake back in (sorry Tony!). I am thinking of getting the V8 CAI intake for my new SS.

It was an easy install, but probably no different than any of the others. ALso, dont' be concerned about accessing the wiper fluid fill area, the cover is closed up by only quarter turn screws, its really easy to get it off.

Oops, looks like I chimed in too late. You'll be happy with the airaid too.

Hahaha. I hope so. You made CAI's sound way better, lol. No big deal. I am going with the Airaid, LT headers, racing catback and that about does it.

Interesting... I just overlaid the injen and CAI curves from the JRE test and they are almost the same! The Airaid is higher than injen/CAI up to about 4000-4500 rpm, then, the injen takes over.
