  • AIRAID CAI Installed

Installed the AIRAID CAI on EVE today- yes she has a name

I can sum it up in one word- AWESOME! Car has a much nicer, deeper growl under acceleration now, than with the stock box-- the stock box sounded 'nasally' to me. - Good thing I waited till she was broken in before I put it on.

Performance initially does feel a bit better. I know it's not going to be worlds of difference, but most people should be able to feel the difference that an additional 10 HP and 14 ft/lbs (mfg claimed) and it did indeed seem to have a bit more pep.

I am quite happy with this intake, compared to the Injen that I was also looking at, which i discovered from a youtube video sounds bad to me on stabbing accelleration-- has an annoying 'whomp' kinda like if you have a pvc pipe (or similar) and hit the open end with your hand.

    Nice!

I've noticed that a lot of modded cars have "hollow" sounding exhaust notes. Not sure what it is, but I need to ID that and not do it. LOL

Not sure how the CAI would sound in conjunction with your exhaust setup. at idle, there is a bit more engine noise up front, simply because of the lack of the closed box and baffles. at the exhaust, it does seem a tidbit deeper, but not a big change. I think the engine sound under acceleration is MUCH better than stock. - I expect that the sound wold be similar with just about any of the CAI kits, with the exception of the original Injen... that one's the loudest, and as evidenced by the youtube video I saw, it's got a funky sucking noise on stabbing acceleration.

I think I may have accidentally deleted the pics from my camera. I'm intending to be at Strat's on Sunday, If I don't get pics up before then, you can see it in person.

If it's on an SD/xD or USB type memory card for your camera... don't use it and bring it with you to the party this Sunday at Strats.. I can bring my laptop and try to recover the pics for you... I can't promise anything, but I'd at least give it a go.

But... heh.. if you're both going to be there on Sunday, the recovery would be a little pointless then.. =)

Just thought I'd offer up the assist, in case there's anything else on there you wanted to try to get back.

Nah, it's no biggie. The pics likely got removed from the camera awhile back, since been used- I could attempt recovery, but not worth it. restoration is sometimes iffy, even if the card hasn't been used again, at least when I have done it before.

                  Thanks, though!

Did you get the airaid V2 tube? I dont know if they ship them all with this now? Supposedly has worthy improvements.

Also, as I am considering a CAI, I want something that mainains stealth mode when at low rpm's or coasting along the highway. Not something that will sound like a honda when Im under 3k rpm you know!

There are fewer V6 options, but will an enclosed box like 'cold air inductions' brand make a huge difference?

My cold air inductions CAI should be waiting on my doorstep when I get home today, I'll provide feedback on sound later this week once I have installed. Been waiting 3 weeks for the darn thing!

You're welcome... I've been doing a lot of data recovery here recently for friends and family, so I thought I'd offer up my geek services to a fellow 5th gen..

I did get the V2 tube. It's pretty quiet, but. Does have a bit more growl than stock.
