at first that will be the sound you look forward to... but the first time you do a full 3rd gear pull and you hear the turbo spooling up and then when at full boost how your car now sounds like a jet engine.... That tends to get to me a little more then when the car sneezes ;-) You will see what i mean

Does anyone ever do these with bypass valves instead? The BOV noise just seems, umm, not cool.

A BOV and bypass valve are basically the same things. But a BOV just vents to the atmosphere, while a bypass valve is just routed back into the intake. Most BOV come with the option to make it bypass valve or not. Thats up to the installer.

turbo cars from the factory have the BOV/Bypass valve routed back into the intake to keep it quite, and some argue that it helps with throttle response as you route it before the turbo normally. But thats always going to be an on going debate.

And for about 90% of the people that want or have a turbo car, the sound of the BOV is cool to them.

Guess I'm in that 10%. My previous fun car before the Camaro was a 2.2L turbo with a bypass.
