  • carbon Fiber parts and winter ?

There seems to be some discussion about Carbon Fiber parts and temps below 10 degrees on Camaro 5 and other places on the Internet that I came across. Does anyone in our club here have any history with daily drivers over a couple of harsh winters with any carbon fiber parts holding up or not holding up?!

Not sure if anyone that has invested in carbon fiber would expose it to that.

I believe that Warwolf here has at least a CF deck lid.

Demon has a bunch of Carbon Fiber gear but not a daily driver. I'm with Tony, not sure why you go to that expense and expose it to the harsh winter conditions. Not sure how it holds up just sitting in a cold garage for storage. Could it crack? I would think it would have to get extremely cold but I

      Maybe Demon will comment.

        I feel forgotten.
Already been though 1 winter with these on.
SEIBON BBII-style carbon fiber hood for 2010-2012 Chevrolet Camaro
SEIBON Carbon Fiber Trunk/Hatch OEM Style
This is my daily driver even during the winter (no garage).
Only issues is that the carbon yellows over time due to sunlight.
The parts are laminated with real carbon fiber but are not 100% carbon fiber
1 layer CF and the rest fiberglass. (that is what i can tell)
I was making some carbon part but i got this stupid Honda i decided to work on instead.

I wouldn't bother with real CF unless the car is going down south for winter. This just isn't the climate for it.

Sorry you feel forgotten, didn't mean to leave you out. It's hard to keep up with what everyone has on their car.

If I had Lawdog's money, my whole car would be CF!

I have the VIS AMS hood that Pete painted for me.. So far after almost a year and a half and one winter it hasn't cracked or shown wear at all however one guy had his crack from driving in normal weather on a highway. (pete did paint most of the hood on the top side)
I had a sebion carbon fiber trunk however and it cracked from just closing it in cold conditions (had on for several months) and was closing it at a slower than normal speed.. put back on the normal trunk deck. I guess it just depends on who you go with and if you luck out.
