  • Radio face, MISTAKE !

So while straightening out the shelves on my garage I found a clear plastic film I ordered to go over the radio face which I never got around to putting on. So I knew I had waxed the radio face and needed to get the wax off before I applied it. naturally I thought rubbing alcohol will clean it like my iPad real nice to apply the film, right OH SO WRONG !!
The whole radio face turned milky white and stayed that way.
After trying several different products on my shelf I ran across some SRT Cleaner Wax and Pink Wax which I bought at the auto show for oxidated plastic. After a shitload of rubbing with my index fingers in small circular motions it looks like new again. But in any event, I am ordering a new one if this plastic is that temperamental.

Thanks for the tip, Bill. I probably would have used alcohol on it as well. So you're ordering a new radio or just the plastic face? You can replace the face?

FYI - I've had good luck using Novus products for removing scratches on my motorcycle windshield and helmet faceshield which is plastic. I think they may work well on the radio face for removing scratches especially the fine ones. I use bottle #1 for everyday cleaning and #2 when I want to remove fine scratches. Pretty inexpensive to at least try before replacing. Here's a link to the product for Amazon but you can get these in alot of other places as well. I know just about every Harley Dealership stocks it as well as some auto parts stores. There was a TSB about removing fine scratches from the display, using some GM sourced product as well. Not to mention the meguiars plastix i think it is.
