I agree with the YouTube link and I would not put recommend plastic covers on hot brakes. However, the covers you purchased are alluminum and there's nothing wrong with them. I've seen them on many cars and think they look good. Again, do what you can afford.

I can't understand why the installer took it upon him/herself not to install your covers because he/she thought they looked cheap. Who does that? You're the one that should make that decision. They should have installed them like you asked and left it at that. If there was a safety concern, then they should bring that to your attention and let you decide.

    That's my .02 worth.
I know - I should have decided over him. He was recommended by a friend. He's more interested in talking you into something else more expensive. I should have checked here first BEFORE I went to him!! Lesson learned

Thank you all for your help!! I have no idea what route I'm going to go. Price doesn't really matter since this is my current money pit!!

I understand your frustration and can relate to learning the hard way. Trust me when I say that everyone on this forum can give you an example of a lesson they have learned.

We are all good to give advice on here, but in the end you have to do what's best for you and your bank account. There are many great vendors on this forum you can reach out to for advice and do the work you need done. They are good people that won't take advantage of you.

Also, many people on here have volunteered to help others install mods for little or no compensation especially small items. That's what being part of a club is all about. Feel free to ask for help when needed.

I wouldn't give up on your caliper covers just yet if you still have them.

Hope this helps ease your mind a little.

Yup, bottom line is do what you can afford, and do what makes you happy. I use these and other forums to gather and sort information, and then I do what "feels" right. People at work tell me all the time I should do this or should not have done that with my car, and I tell them, "get your own car and then you could do that".

Do your research, talk to folks, solicit opinions, but always remember it is your car and don't let anyone talk you into something that makes you uncomfortable, or talk you out of something that you really like.

Plus...as I have found out, you can always change something later.
(I have several boxes full of "oopses" in the garage lol).

Hope whatever you do turns out great!!

Thanks - I did send them back. I will think about all of my options and maybe do a few other things before I go back to this one??

Yes yes, at the next event ask me why I took my front bumper off 7 times, in three weeks, when installing my RS halos.

If you have the money, powder is the only choice. Mine were $200-something to start, then, I had them weld-in the pockets (V6) and grind them smooth for another $100. Looks great and no worries down the road.
