Powder coating vs. covers

I recently purchased covers and the guy I had installing said they were cheaply made and suggested powder coating. Anyone have pics of this? Any recommendations on a good place to have it done? I'm NOT going back to this guy!!

Can you share where you got the covers? Or which brand? I was thinking of getting some myself soon.

I had my V6 calipers done a few years ago, and will be getting Tigger's V6 calipers done soon, still working on the place, but will know soon

I wouldn't do covers. Heres a video about Brembo covers that aren't recommended. I know its for a Mustang but I would think Camaro's would have the same problem.

The covers are actually easy to install yourself , not too pricey and can be purchased everywhere from phasteck to eBay. The powder coating is more costly, about $350 to get them powder coated from mike@thepowdercoater.com. You can see his work on the Camaro5 forum. But it is an extra cost to remove and reinstall and bleed system but last for a very long time. Or I'll throw in also a painted caliper that Pete (showstopper) can do for you...

Those covers are what most everyone does for covers on the Camaro. I'd go for the powder myself, if I had Brembo's. Will look better, I think.

I personally didn't get to see them. He said they looked like they would fall off. He may have just wanted to talk me into something more expensive?? I'm having a hard time getting my refund from him.

They looked like plastic. They were ok but not what I was really expecting.

There was another member I met at Deerfield tire & his looked great. Don't remember if they were plastic. I would think with plastic & being close to rotors they could get heated & melt. Did you buy from Chevymall? I looked on there & they range from 200-350? Don't exactly understand what the difference was between the 200 set & the 350 set.

FYI the member I spoke to said they were great & repealed brake dust.

Oh - definitely not plastic. They were metal. The outer red coating just looks like plastic. I did buy them from Chevymall. Mine were only 200 as I purchased the ones for the 45th Anniversary. I want them for the brake dust. I HATE cleaning rims!!
