My exhaust is too loud and has led to three tickets in the past month.. so I am dumming it down a bit and going with a axle back system. I was looking to get the tips powder coated black and was wondering if anyone knew someone who did powder coating and how much to expect. Thanks!

What exhaust are you running to get three tickets in that amount of time?

Do you have any other mods besides that? Because I don't think that can be too too loud by itself as I essentially have the same thing

Guess we're getting away from your original question (powdercoater), but yeah, I have to agree, wouldn't think it would loud enough to warrant a ticket. Are they measuring your exhaust with a db meter and proving that it's breaking some law, or just saying it's too loud therefore you get a ticket?

Not prying into your business, just curious how they come to conclusion you needed three tickets. I'm a little worried about my exhaust, that's why I'm curious.

Agreed, I would fight a little bit. I ran completely straight pipe for almost 3 years with not a single ticket or warning.

They didn't measure it.. My parents are both lawyers and will go to court with me so those should be easy to get out of. Barrington police don't like my car though and will continue pulling me over until I change it so.

That's a bummer, my brother had the same issue is his town when he had a Trans Am. Sounds like you're on the right track though by adding some decent mufflers. I know Pete (ShowStopper) has powdercoated tips before or had them done so you might reach out to him to see who he uses. I'm guessing maybe the already mentioned location in St. Charles.

I use precision powder coating in Crystal Lake. I have shopped around on him for pricing in the past and he has always been the lowest and i have never had issues with quality and im picky.

Bob Behrens is his name, 371 East Prarie St- Unit D 815-455-6612

Being so close you may want to take a cruise there he rarely answers the phone since he is always busy. Plus you will need to bring in what you want done to get a price. His minimum is $50.

I would go to Pete at Showstoppers in St.Charles, he does an excellent job.

I don't think Pete powder coates, but he dose paint. I think his brakes are painted, which i think get hotter then the exhaust tips.
