  • Powder Coating '12 Grand Sport Chrome Wheels

I apologize for the lack for forum searching, but I don't have much time at the office to dig around...

I'm looking to replace my chrome Grand Sport wheels with the Cyber Grey/Comp Grey variants that were also available.. I have leads on 4 brand new OEM CompGrey wheels for right at 1K shipped to my door, but was wondering if anyone could just powder coat my stockers for cheaper and w/o it being a hack job.

The finish needs to look as close as possible to the Comp Grey color of the GS wheels, be a smooth finish and not bubble/pop/distort under a hard track day like my repaired Camaro SS wheel did.

I would also need the powder coating shop to hand the removal, dismounting, coating, remounting and install of these wheels as I don't have another car to really ferry parts/myself around to various places. So, I need a one-stop-shop for this work.

I'm not opposed to just getting the OEM CompGreys, having them swapped and then attempting to sell my OEM chrome wheels if that would be cheaper and less hassle.

    Anyone have any leads?

Also, the center caps should retain the cross-flags.

This will look good! I like the color scheme you are going with.

Let me know if you find a place too because I want to get my wife's wheels powder coated but have the same issue where I wont be able to drive the wheels seperatly.

sent from my galaxy s3. that would explain the errors.

No experience with these guys but hear alot of good things about them. I know some on here have used them so I'm sure they will chime in on their work.

I've had him do stuff for me. He's also done stuff for Toasty and a ton for the banned one.

I am pretty sure the powder pro will do all of the above.

Try Fresh Start Custom Coatings in Rolling Meadows. Mark is the owner 847-561-6968.

BTW, I did NOT have good results with Podwer Pros in Woodstock. I would not recommend them.

For the benefit of all, please elaborate on this. Several of us have had no problems with Sean.

First of all Sean no longer owns the business. He sold it to Tim. They did my break calipers in October. By Sean's and Tim's admission, the calipers turned out to be "milky" on the outside surface where the Brembo decals are. I paid them which was my mistake. They both agreed that they would stand behind the work and redo them after I put the car up for the winter. I trusted them and that was also a mistake. Tim even said he would come to the house to remove the calipers. I called Tim in November and told him I was ready and that the car was on jack stands and the wheels were off. He said he would check with Sean to see if he was ready. After 2 weeks I called Tim again. Same story. A week later I called Sean. That's when I found out he sold the buisness to Tim. Sean said he would still do the calipers and that he would call me the next week. Call never came. I called Tim again and left voicemails. He now doesn't return my calls.

In short, all I got was the run around. And, a bad powder coat job. I would never use them nor recommend them.

I used Powder Pro for my calipers and they didn't apply one of the Bembro decals properly. The paint job was good though. Just thought it was carelessness with regard to the decal.

I would recommend CPC. Very professional shop, not a barn in a back yard. A lot of high end car guys from the Autobahn use him. He will dismount tires and remount for $30. He will give you a link to a website that supplies paint and you choose from literally thousands of colors. You can order a sample of the color to verify it's what you want. Sorry don't have the link handy.
