I've tried this and that, my matt black stripes look like they've been detailed by a drunk three year old... Thoughts?

How do you detail matte black stripes?

Look into a product called "Dr Beasley's Matte Paint Prescription". Read an article about David Beckham and his all matte gray SS, which talked about keeping matte paint looking good. This stuff was recommended.2012 VR 1LT RS

John, let me know if you'd like to meet the Dr. Beasley's guy.. He's local to us. He actually is my exclusive detailer and has been for about a year now.
Dr. Beasley's products actually come as a OE setup in the Matte Finish Veloster cars.
It's his products that I've handed out here recently at some of the events. I have some booklets at the house if you'd like to read through them.

Regular car wax will turn your matte black stripes white. I would advise not using regular wax. If there is a "special" wax for matte black paint (and stripes) then maybe I would try a small area first. Otherwise i stick to just using my detailing spray to keep them clean and give them a "waxed" type protection. I use Wizards detailing stuff but I'm pretty sure any of the quick detailing sprays would work.
The other thing you could try using is Eagle One wax as u dry. I use this on the entire car after washing and it doesn't turn your black plastic white and it hasn't had any negative effects on the matte black rally stripes either. I generally don't spray the wax directly on the stripes but it does get on the towels and then I wipe the stripes dry so I know some of the wax is also getting on the stripes. Otherwise I generally stick to just using my detailing spray.
I don't know anythign about the Dr. Beasley's stuff so it sounds like HumanWiki has the inside scoope on that.sigpic

Some of the Dr. Beasley's products are specifically made with matte finish in mind. They don't leave a shine finish on the area, nor does it leave the waxy build up.
They use their stuff on all manner of high end cars, including the matte AMG MerBenz vehicles.
I'll get you one of the brochures I have at the house John.
Since you're local, you can stop by Simon's Shine Shop over on West Shakespeare and get it there or just have them clean it for you.Last edited by Guest; 07-30-2012, 02:58 PM.
