  • Heritage vs ZL1 Grille

My front bumper is being replaced due to an accident so I now am looking at running a different grille. I bought a used heritage grille that was painted CGM. My plan had been to run it without the bowtie, but the area in the middle is bent from over tightening. I've thought about painting the bowtie, not sure what color would look good.

I could also run the ZL1 grille, paint the bowtie CGM, and I think my SS badge will cover the mount on the driver's side of the grille?

Can you guys tell me what you think?

I think they both look nice.. Though, for full ZL1 front fascia's on non-ZL1, I've never been a fan -- but, like I said, I think just the grille part looks nice as it's still sporting the look of an SS.. I think it's just a variant of a Hertiage grille, honestly.

      Yeah I won't do the whole ZL1 bumper, I don't want a clone.

I'm gonna try to work with heritage grille... Worst case I'll run the bowtie like this:

      2010 Camaro SS/RS L99
      13.15@106 1.95 stock
      11.84@113 1.59 bolt-ons stock internal
10.90@125 1.47 GPI VVT Cam + Bo White Ported Heads

I like that as well -- but, that's the grille I'm running. =)

Think the inner part would look best black or CGM or dark gray?

Either way.. Mine is color matched to the grille -- but, I think that looks best on the lighter/brighter colored cars. The black/gray/dark blue colors look good either way I think. My bowtie is IOM/CGM to match the stripes.

Do you intend on any other accent colors? (powdercoated calipers, etc.)

I'd go for CGM insert, with stock chrome outer, or flat black insert and CGM outer...

I have my ZL1 grill sitting in my garage right now. I jumped on it right away when it first came available and haven't installed it.

I dont know when/if it will get done so if you are interested in a ZL1 grill I might be willing to sell it.

Thanks for the info, I'm more focusing on figuring out a plan with the heritage grille at the moment but if that changes I'll ping you for sure.

Got the heritage with the old school "ss" emblem.

How long does it take to swap in a Heritage grille?
