  • Some new modifications

So I haven't done any modifications since my subwoofers which was almost a year ago! What I'm thinking now are window tints, and tinting my marker lights along with taillights. I also want to change the color of the bowtie front and rear to either ABM or black. As far as performance mods go where should I start? My Camaro is a V6 RS everything under the hood etc.. is all stock right now... wanna make it a little stronger or even sound a little more aggressive? What local places around here have the best deals or are awesome at this type of stuff? I wish I could go to Showstoppers but it's too far away for me to really go. Use my car as a blank canvas give me some ideas! (pricing is helpful too :P)

More aggressive sound you can go with an axle back exhaust. Cold air intake would put you back in your seat a bit more as well. As for horsepower gains you can do a ported throttle body to gain 6HP, 6 torque, ported air intake, and with a tune get another 20 - 30 HP.

Showstopper is the best period, its worth the drive. Performance I would go to Speed inc or Benchmark tuning. Ported intake, T/B,intake insulators, air intake, Axle back exhaust, and a tune will sure wake up the V6.

Trust me, Pete (Showstopper) is never too far. I'm 2 hours away and picked up engine goodies at Pete's shop. I will use whenever I can.

I don't have a V6 so someone that has one should give you advice on performance mods. I wouldn't change anything I've done on my ride.

        Good luck!

Well as it goes I'm in Antioch on the boarder of Wisconsin, Pete is almost 3 hours away from me. Main difference about me compared to I think 98% of people on this site is that I'm 18 in college and have an erratic work schedule so I can't really fit that trip into my everyday life. Like I said I would love to go but would rather keep it a little more local. JB the ported throttle body, and cold air intake sound like a nice start, how much does tuning usually run and what exactly does it do? ( Sorry for noobish questions btw). Anti, the Axle back exhaust also sounds like a nice addition. As far as tinting does anyone know kinda general pricing around it?

A good quality tint job should be around 250-300.

If you're in Antioch Pete is no more than 1.5hrs away.

For mods, start with a cold air intake and some axle backs. You'll get a little more punch and some better sound. For those two items you'll be looking at 700ish for the parts. You can put in the cold air intake yourself, and the axle backs would be about $100 bucks. Go see our sponsor deerfield tires for that install.

If you want more after those then worry about the throttle body and tune. For a few hp the throttle body is not a must have up front, and there's no way you'll notice 5hp. High flow cats are probably a better dollar value than the ported throttle body, plus gives some good sound. As far as tuning, you may want to research that a bit more on the impacts. The V6 had been a pain to tune and get any real results from.

Hmm then maybe Pete is a good solution for the tints, Already had Garret do my winter tires and rims and love them I like the sound of starting with the cold air intake and the axle backs. How much am I looking at in general for the high flow cats or ported throttle body?

trifecta for tuning... its about 340ish i think from bad news racing which you can check out on camaro5 ...if u want i have the cable so you wouldn't have to pay for that which is extra.BUT wait till you finish with performance mods as then the tune will maximize your mods

The best for your car to add HP and torque would be the VMax intake manifold insulator. The cheapest route on purchasing that item would be ordering it from Mike Norris. They just came to the market this week and the price will be going up. Forget a tune until you've added a decent amont of mods, such as air intake, exhaust and headers.

This months Hot Rod has a wet NOS kit listed for the V6 for $1189.50. It has jets for 35, 50, 75 and 100 hp. I just got it , just read the article and have it in front of me which is why I have all of this info. The article says it can be easily hidden so you can be like DarkSS used to be, , .

More info at SPATurboUSA.com or pg 106 of this month's Hot Rod.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.
