Painted vs. Powder Coated Calipers

I was talking with some Corvette guys yesterday and had mentioned that I was thinking of having my brake calipers painted red. They suggested that I get them powder coated in red instead. They said that the powder coating would last longer than the paint.

I'm looking for the wisdom of the group. Paint vs. powder coating? Preferences? Reasons? Are there cost and application differences?

Definitely powder coat. It may be a little more expensive but less chance of the coloring getting ruined due to brake fluid. The brake fluid, even when bleeding the brakes, will affect the paint whereas the powder coat will be fine. Just been my experience.

yes powerdcoat is more durable but also more expensive, my painted calipers still looks like new on my daily driver and I manage not to spill any brake fluid during installation,
in my case I have no preference, pete did a amazing job painting them and they will last a long time (I hope)

The one painting option that I am considering is G2 caliper paint, which is a 2 part epoxy type paint, stock colors are about 50, they will custom color match a factory color for 100.... Yes this is a DIY...

Oh I'm totally not a DYIer. I would have brake parts and fluid all over the place and have extra pieces after putting it back together. Definately will need to do my part helping the economy and have the professionals do them.

The G2 is brush-on, the calipers can stay on, just mask them off...

I have a ported/powdercoated throttle body done by him, awesome stuff!

Oh yeah. His are 400 for the set, still have to have tbem removed and reinstalled

I've decided to do the powder coating. I've been looking at the thread for the guy on Camaro 5 and I'll check out The Powder Pro too. Thanks all. I'm excited to get this done.
