  • Stay away from Hardway Customs!

Not sure what happened to the thread on my wheels, possibly got deleted, but the point I'm trying to make is stay away from Hardway Customs!

Long story short, I took my wheels to Matt to have them powder coated. Two weeks later I get the wheels back and look at them and they have these 1/4 inch black dots all over them, about 20 per wheel. There were also scratches on one wheel, and it looks like when they put my wheels in the oven, they rested one of the wheels on another which left a big crease across one of the spokes on my wheel.

After being dissatisfied, I decided to do some research. Matt had told me that all those dots in the wheel were out-gassing, which was incorrect because out-gassing is the size of a pinhole not 1/4 inch. Maybe they don't know how to prep wheels and remove all the oils properly, but who knows.

After talking with Matt and telling him that I was not happy with the work, he did refund my money so I will give the guy that much. But the thing that really pisses me off is that first, he didn't even do the work himself, he outsourced it to another company. Second, the pictures that he originally posted in the thread about my wheels were not even my wheels. Thirdly, I'm left with a set of wheels that look like shit, and 4 ruined center caps that need to be replaced. And the best part is that when I took the wheels to a different powder coater today, the new powder coater told me that they weren't even powdercoated. THEY WERE SPRAY PAINTED!

This guy is not a guy you all want to be doing business with. Sorry for the ranting, but I just had to get that off my chest and warn you all who were thinking about getting work done by him.

If anyone is not happy with me posting this here then let me know and I will remove the post.

    Regards,
    Jason

Is it because his work is horrible or because he lied to us all or because he is a scam artist?

Man, I am sorry to hear that your rims got screwed up. Both for you and the rest of us that won't be using him either now.

Yeah, sorry about your wheels, I don't know what the heck happened or whatever Matt is dealing with I am just glad I didn't sent him my Boyd Coddington wheels on my lightning like I was planning to do, these baby's are not made anymore if he had screwed them up they are irreplaceable.

Because he told us that he would not be powder coating until further notice.

I'm not sure of exactly what happened, so, I won't guess.

              T.
The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

People like him shouldn't be in the business. I'm curious to see how Tim's rims turned out... I think he was getting his done at the same time as mine.

The new place will be stripping my wheels starting next week, they are pretty busy, and I'll have to wait a bit of time for them to get to my wheels, but I think it will be worth the wait to get the job done right.

let us know how it goes. and perhaps if they have an idea of what cost would be (outside of having to undo the bad job first)

I'm suprised money back was what was offered and no real attempt to rectify the situation with a better outcome. Reputation is your best selling point and a good one is earned. Being a new sponser even on a smaller yet growing forum he shouldn't have allowed those wheels out of his shop without your complete satisfaction. Yet he did and his work is at his competitors shop being corrected (strike two) he pulled away from

All we know so far is that he's got some health problems and he's shutting down the podercoating bussines, that is why he didn't/couldn't offer to redo them, whether that is true or not we don't know.
