Colored Halo's road legal?

Hi guys, among my mods wishlist are colored halo's to replace the factory white ones. I am having trouble finding precise information on this and perhaps it still comes down to a judgement call...

If I am driving, and had green halo's (only) on, is that legal?
If I am driving , and have regular headlignts + green halo on, is that legal? (my thinking here is that it will appear to have a green tinted ring but still be 90+% white.

I have heard that blue/red are more touchy since they could indicate emergency or police vehicles?

I will take facts or hypothesis. Thanks for your input.

There is a lot to read thru, but I belive the only legal colors are white and amber.

That is correct. White and amber are the only legal colors in the front. That is why a dual color option is avaolable. This way you can be legal until you go to a show and swith the color. Tony needs to chime in on this.

Thanks for the tip. I will be taking that into consideration. A somewhat related follow-up. Can I use my Halo's as daytime running lights (for flare), I assume since they are white its fine.

Pete's got it. White, amber, and also yellow, are legal on the front.

Pete did my dual halos and matching fogs. I love em. Toggle in the center console makes it quick and easy to switch over for shows. Pete is the Man. Make sure he does the halo's as they are tricky to get resealled without moisture issues.

I saw a pickup truck driving with green halos on this afternoon in Antioch. First thing I thought was "that's probably not legal".

You are right. Green is illegal.

if color halo r illegal but i see hondas or whatever they r with purple lights. I heard that exhaust is illegal too. "anything that modify the muffler" blah something like that i read somewhere. but police probably can care less unless ripping it in a resident area

Sec. 12‑602. Mufflers, prevention of noise.
Every motor vehicle driven or operated upon the highways of this State shall at all times be equipped with an adequate muffler or exhaust system in constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or unusual noise. No such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped with a cutout, bypass or similar device. No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will amplify or increase the noise of such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler originally installed on the vehicle, and such original muffler shall comply with all the requirements of this Section.

I just wanted to add that red halo ring look sick on black cars and its realy crappy that you can't do it in IL!
