Powder Pro can do plastics...see below. He doesn't do PVD as it's not a powder process.

I really want that black chrome look, but I refuse to ship my wheels. I'm still searching as well to try and find someone that can do this locally.

Guys, I have the answer you seek! ... at least part of it. Hardway Customs will do black chrome powdercoat $320 for the set - should include stripping paint/clear, etc. (They actually have a few different ways to do a black chrome look, depending on what is being coated)

They're in Lockport, I'm working on getting their full contact info.

there is some info/sample work pics on The Chicago Garage forum Hardway Customs - The Chicago Garage (hope it's not illegal to post the link!)

The contact number for Hardway Customs is 773-858-1457. The shop itself is in Seneca, the owner's office is in Lockport.

Tony, I did ask about plastic, and he said it depends on the type of plastic... I don't have any more info on what you want coated, though. I did point him to this thread, but no idea if he'll stop in, or what he can post without being a supporting vendor.

Ah, thanks, but, I'm looking for PVD on plastic, not powder coat.

That's one hell of a drive... Don't know if I'd be willing to drive all the way out to Seneca from Wheeling

... at least in the wheel world, PVD = a form of powdercoating.. there's a powdercoat 'primer'/base, then the vapor vacuum process... then a clear powdercoat overtop...

yeah, it's a bit of a haul, but if there isn't a good place anywhere up there, then you'll just have to plan a road trip!

                      For those curious...

PVD = Physical Vapor Deposition. It's an environmentally-friendly, vacuum coating process that provides brilliant and durable decorative finishes on a variety of substrate materials including ceramic, glass, metal and plastic. Not to be confused with Chemical Vapor Deposition, which is a chemical reaction at the surface to be coated

                      More Info

So it's safe to assume he could chrome a set of stock rims too? I wonder what that would co$t?

I also wonder what would look better, chrome stockers or chrome torque thrusts?

                        T.
The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my Track next fix.

Keeping in mind that it would still be a form of PVD or Powdercoating, yeah I'm pretty sure he can do that. I think it's still probably $320 for the set, but you'd have to check to be sure.

The TT's are nice, but not sure if they are my favorite choice. - I wish they would make the 200S (coke bottle style)

Guys! I have an update on the wheels. I talked to Matt today and he said he is able to do all 4 rims and center caps for $300.00. if you want your lug nuts done as well its an extra $25.00. This is a great deal compared to the black chrome guy on C5 who charges $650.00 and you have to pay shipping.

Here is a pic of the so called black chrome, where in the powder coating business its more known as Solar Rain Dark Chrome.

Powder Buy The Pound | Powder Coating Equipment and Supplies

In a couple weeks when he will be out in the Lombard area dropping off a chopper frame to a customer and will bring along some items he has done in Solar Rain Dark Chrome.

If anyone wants to join me in meeting up with him and having a beer while talking about getting our wheels done, just let me know.

Who knows, maybe if we get 3-4 guys together to get this done at the same time he will give us a discount!
