  • painted my tail light bezels

I tought that taking them off was going to be a PITA according to all the threads on other forums but I decided to do them and took me 5 minutes to take them off the car, I just inserted a plastic trim removal tool between the lense and the bezel and slowly pry them out, they all poped out like real easy.

I paint them flat black and they look 100 times better IMO

What a simple mod. But it does so much to the appearance of the vehicle.

I was thinking of doing this. What did you do to prep the surface? Sand paper/primer/paint? What grit did you use?

First sand them with 600 grit till all the shiny chrome is gone or they look like brush aluminum then a couple of coats of adhesion promoter, then 2-3 coats of gray primer, let them dry all night then in the AM shot it with duplicolor semi flat black 2 light coats then one heavy coat.

                      Maybe a quicker route...

                      Use Krylon Fusion primer!

You skip one coat this way.

I went to get groceries today and when I was walking back I got to look at the car from behind and with the black bezels makes the tail lights look darker, it's just plain mean looking
