  • Experiment!

So I just picked up a set of stock steel wheels for winter wheels. Problem is that even though they're winter wheels, I do care at least a little how they'll look on EVE, being as she's Summit White.

My first thought was to paint the wheels a different color than black. (Silver/Gunmetal/White?) Problem is that if it didn't look good, I'm stuck having to repaint, which causes another set of issues on it's own.

So tonight, I had a crazy idea, and thus my experiment! I've ordered a few chunks of vinyl in a few different colors. I'm gonna try and wrap the visible part of the wheel and see how it looks against the car. - Should be able to wrap all visible parts of the wheel (when trim ring and center cap are on) If I don't like it, it's pretty easy to remove, and if I find a color that works, I can get enough to do the rest of the wheels to match- and I can do it again next year if I wanted to just freshen them or switch colors.

Sooo, I'd guess the vinyl will be here sometime next week, so I'll post an update after I give it a shot. Wish me luck!! At worst, I'll have enough leftovers to do the front and rear bowtie that I want to do anyway, haha

Well its a nice idea but do you really think the vinyl will never work in the winter, I am not sure the vinyl will not stand up to the salt and cold. I have tried the Vinyl on just the center caps and it does not hold on very well at all, Im always replacing them.

Neat idea, interested to see how it looks.

BTW, did you get on 55 N from route 53 this morning? I was exiting onto RT 53 and saw a summit white camaro going up the on-ramp.

Yeah, not sure how it will do in the cold (or with heat from the brakes either) but. It should stick to the wheel better than the center cap- the center cap has more extreme curves, where the wheel is pretty flat.

I think the black steelies look the best on the white car. IMO.
I.ve got same thing for winter, on mid nov.
